The Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society B has just published a special issue about group decision making in humans and animals. This special edition has been edited by Larissa Conradt and Christian List and introduces long standing social science concepts and methodology into the newly expanding field of animal collective decision making. It also considers approaches in the natural sciences that could be helpful in advancing social science studies. The issue consists of an introductionary survey and ten further contributions. Of these, six contributions are first-authored by social scientists, and four by natural scientists.
